As a part of the Institute for Social Innovation, the Social Innovation Competition ("SIC") offers StartingBloc Candidates the opportunity to apply their new found knowledge and skills. StartingBloc partner corporations present a real world challenge, and Candidates work in teams of six to generate the best solution.

Accepted Candidates receive their case and team assignments approximately four weeks prior to the start of the Institute. They work virtually in teams, facilitated by a Fellow mentor. The teams have several opportunities to polish their presentations in person during the Institute, and then deliver their pitches to a panel of judges from the client and experts in the field.

The Social Innovation Competition provides StartingBloc Fellowship candidates with real world consulting experience. Past SIC partners include Terracycle, Echoing Green, Mercado Global, Zipcar, and Waters Corporation.
